Two things. First of all I’m really happy that I finally managed a three comic week. My goal is to work things out for a regular Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule, although I can’t promise I’ll be able to get all three days every week. That’s the goal, however, and I’m arranging my schedule and trying to simplify the comic enough that I can eventually make it happen. You might notice on page 163 that I didn’t do the ship’s controls in 3d but drew them. There was just no way to model an entire control panel in 3d in time. Eventually I will have to model at least part of his ship’s bridge, but I’m trying to put it off a while as it’ll take extra time. Still, I think page 163 looks pretty good and I’m glad I spent more time on the cityscape, which came out pretty cool. And now that it’s all set up in Vue 6 (a program that does 3d environments and stuff) it’ll be way easier to do in the future. In order to keep up with a more regular update schedule I’m going to be using more of a mix of 3d and hand drawn stuff like in page 163.
The second cool thing is that Far Reaches is official over two years old, having started in February 2006. That’s a lot of work and over 160 pages, though not quite all of them were actually comics. Even so I think it’s a pretty cool accomplishment.
