No GravatarFirst of all, I’m so excited I managed three full-color comics this week. I’m working hard to finish Monday’s comic today, and will work on Wednesday’s over the weekend. Things are really coming to a climax! Next week I’m really going to shoot again for three comics, M-W-F, and see if I can get them up early. It may take a few weeks for me to get used to the schedule, but I’ll make an effort.

If you haven’t already done the FR Readerific Survey, here’s the link:Click Here to take survey

Thank you soooo much to everyone who’s responded so far, it’s been very enlightening. Here are some highlights. Thus far, 34.1% are female, which is much higher than earlier in the week. So the number is growing, and I think that’s pretty cool that girl/women readers enjoy the Far Reaches. Girls are pretty cool, and girl geeks doubly so. That relates also to the fact that a lot of people said they’d like t-shirts with logos or funny characters, so we’d also want shirts in girl’s sizes. Also, the same number of people said they’d like a print edition of the book. More on that in a later. BTW, any ideas for t-shirts? What characters or logos? I’m not ready to do shirts just yet, but it’s good to think about it.

Interestingly, so far 75.9% are fans of Lord of the Rings, compared to 58.5% Star Wars, 65.9% Hitchhiker’s Guide, and 63.4% are fans of Terry Pratchett and Firefly. So you all have pretty good taste (although I still need to see Firefly soon as I can afford the DVDs). I should have distinguished between original Star Wars movies and the Prequels, or even the expanded universe in games and comics, but I forgot. (I think that might make an interesting difference.)

As for your favorite webcomics and comics, there was a huge variety of answers. An amazing variety. Many of you even mentioned Far ReachesĀ  ;) Probably the name mentioned most often was Girl Genius, which of course is very well done by the Foglios. Dreamland Chronicles and Pheonix Requiem were the next most popular, and both are pretty inspiring to me, art-wise. So this has been a really interesting survey. Oh, I almost forgot. 95.1% like scif-fi, 87.8% fantasy, 73.2% comedy, 14.6% romance, and only 46.3% like anime and manga. So very cool. Ah, yes. And 29.3% liked large green things with teeth (which is a Going Postal ref.) All in all, a very interesting survey thus far, and if you haven’t taken it, please consider taking a minute and do it. It’s pretty short.

I should have answered Phoenix Requiem as well, since it’s very good and I read it. I also read Goblins, but for wholy different reasons.

I love Bently, would love a pose of him on a Tshirt offering up a froufrou drink with one hand and firing a laser with the other, a quote saying something like “The best gentleman’s gentleman is prepared for every contingency.” I’d love a mug, too, meant to mention that. I’m a big fan of mugs. One with Wellington’s pugface on it, saying something like “Coffee. NOW, you speck of primordial slime!” (or something funnier, please. LOL)

Thanks for the good ideas! Yeah a Bentley shirt and mug would be good. Same with a Wellington mug. I’ll have to start looking into designs here before too long.
