No GravatarOkay, here’s the real page 138. Sorry for the delay. You ever had one of those days where you just didn’t want to do anything? Where you just couldn’t face work? I kind of had one of those days today. Don’t worry. This isn’t going to be a big whiny rant. I’m here to entertain you if possible and help lighten your day. You don’t need to hear me complain about my life. But if you’re trying to do your own webcomic, you’ll find there are days when you just can’t face it. You just don’t feel like drawing. I think probably every artist goes through that. One thing that’s helped me is to listen to something interesting while I work. I’ve found the Webcomics Weekly podcast pretty fun to listen to and the time goes by pretty fast. Today, however, to help me through my little funk, I downloaded the audio book Going Postal. It’s probably my favorite Terry Pratchett book, and probably one of the only books where the hero dies in the first chapter :) The hang man asks him if he’ll sign the rope (very valuable to collectors you know, that’s my pension you’re signing Mr. Spangler.) Pratchett is a brilliant writer. His characters are so crazy and full of life. Anyway, listening to the first few chapters helped me work through my little whatever it’s called, and get the comic done. If only I had thought of it this morning I could have finished much earlier. But it’ll probably come in handy for the next one.

So that’s just a consideration if you’re doing a comic and hit that wall where you just don’t feel like it. Listen to something that gets you through it, makes you laugh, or inspires you. It’s also good to remember that you’ve got readers who really want to read the next part in the story. That also motivates me to finish it.

Just so that you know, the next page involves some 3d work that might take a while, and tomorrow is going to be one of those busy days. I’ll try to get as much done as possible, but I have a feeling that I’m going to be a bit overwhelmed. On the bright side, it should be a really fun page to work on. I’m looking forward to it. I just hope I don’t mess it up. I’ve got this vision in my head, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get it down on paper. It also involves meshing 2d and 3d which is kind of challenging. But let’s hope it comes out good.

If you didn’t notice, you made a spelling error.
When he says “I jumped on my zip-bike and raced away, but they were on my “TALE” in like 2 secs…”
But that’s probably a result of your day, and it couldn’t be helped.

Thanks for noticing that. Those are the spelling errors I always end up missing because they don’t show up in spell check, and I’m usually rushing. Oh, well. I’ve fixed it now. I appreciate it.

I usually don’t point out errors, for fear of seeming too particular; but in light of your gracious note above, I wanted to mention that you used ‘where’ instead of ‘were’ in that same sentence above.

On a lighter note, I love Terry Pratchett. And yes, I do want more of the story. Want, want, want. Is that definite enough for you?

When people leave ‘wanting’ notes on my stories, it’s always nice. So … Want. More.

Ah, man. Can you tell I’m not the greatest proofreader? :) Thanks so much for catching that. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the support too.
