This is going to be one of those weeks. The comic is horribly behind schedule. So far behind that I think I’ll just put up a sketch and finish the comic Wednesday evening. I hate to do that but it’s been a long day. No, it’s been a really freaking long day. This morning we rented a fourteen-foot U-haul and I had the wonderful joy of loading it full then preceeding to unload it at the new house. My sister helped with a few lighter boxes, but mainly it was me and a hand-truck or dolly or whatever they’re called. There was no air-conditioning in the truck but thankfully it was only 103 today in beautiful Las Vegas. I probably went through half a case of Dasani. Considering my relative inexperience in this sort of work, I’d say it went pretty well. I managed to lift all the heavy stuff without problems. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as careful trying to get a deceptively heavy desk chair out of the way and hurt my lower back about a half-hour into the whole thing. All things considered, however, I feel pretty good about getting so much done. Of course, this was only about a third of our stuff. We’re going to have professionals do the really hard work, probably in a couple of weeks.
We returned the truck around 4:30 and then the real fun began. All we had to do was go to the cable company and pick up a cable box and a high-speed cable modem for the new house. I seemed so simple (of course, so did moving that desk chair.) It was absolutely insane. We waited over an hour for our turn. I was actually pretty grateful they had places to sit while we waited, because my back was really starting to hurt. I staved off insanity by playing Orcs and Elves on my phone, and I have to say it’s pretty good for a mobile game. Finally, we had to stop by the store to get a heating pad and some dinner. It too was a madhouse. In the end, we didn’t even get home until 7:00 pm.
I’ve got two more panels to pencil. I’ve gotten the reference material done. That was one of the hold ups when I worked on it early this morning. As I said, I’m just going to put up a sketch. I , apologize but I just don’t even have the energy to finish the pencils. I’ve never been a very energetic person so today has really taken it out of me. I’ll try to post the comic by Wednesday night.
