No GravatarYessssss! The tiling finally finished today and we actually have two working bathrooms again! On the downside we still have to move our beds (and like half the house) back into the bedrooms and stuff, but the really hard part is past. The tile looks great. I’m not really looking forward to moving my mom’s bed back. It’s one of those motorized adjustable ones and the mattress feels like it’s filled with liquid cement (it’s like super heavy). It does have handles but is so huge and floppy that it’s crazy hard to keep a hold of it. Then again, that’s what a couple strong friends and an offer for free pizza are for, so no worries. (Yeah, I say that but I’ll still be the one moving it <grin>)

Anyway, enough about all that stuff. Thankfully I was able to finish redoing page 74. I’d link to the old version but I haven’t gone through and renamed and numbered the comic post titles yet so I’m not really sure which one it is. Oh, wait. Here it is: Old page 74. I just had to look for the date (duh!) BTW, I don’t think I’ll leave the new one up indefinitely as it interrupts the flow of the story when people read through. I could replace the old one, but I’ll probably save it as one of the nice features of a print or ebook edition. I’m already up to page 88 and have been doing my best to make the word balloons look nicer.

Also, a big problem you may have noticed in going through the archives is that a lot of the pages look really dark. That’s because like a dummy I hadn’t calibrated my monitor when I did the first couple chapters (meaning it was displaying things much too light so I thought they were fine, but they were really too dark.) Now I’ve only been using Photoshop like 15 years, so you’d think I’d know better by now, but I’m way too much of an airhead. Thus, I’m going through and adjusting all the dark pages or panels so that they’re easier to see. This is especially important for print as it always comes out darker than on screen.

Be that as it may, I’m really getting near the end of the prep work, so next week I’ll start on doing a nice cover poster. I also have a gag strip in mind but the cover art has to come first, just in case.

Since this post is titled “Beauty and Stuff”, I’d like to ask you a question…
Is beauty truly based on whether a “Red Stripe Beer” is in your hand or not?
Sorry, I just had to ask
    :P
Congrats on the new floor btw!

Red Stripe? I don’t think I’ve even heard of that one. I don’t get out much and can’t drink because of my meds. But seriously, the floor is such a huge improvement and looks beautiful.
