I’m not entirely sure how long it’s been since I actually got two comics done in one week, but hurray. So, was this fun-loving charmer of a robot what you were expecting? He actually came out better than I had thought he would. Far Reaches tends to be so cartoony, and with good reason (easier to draw over and over – why do you think I do the chibi characters so much?) So, it was a lot of fun doing a scary-cool type of robot for a change. Just as a side-note, I don’t actually have a script written for the next couple pages. Thus, it may take some extra time to write them out. I’ll try to do that over the weekend and hopefully get the pencils done Monday. Doing a Tuesday/Friday schedule this week worked out much better than the Wednesday/Friday. I could never seem to get the latter down successfully.
In other news, I’ve started learning Flash. I bought the program a couple years ago when I was in art school (student discounts rock), but I never sat down to learn it. And just when my class was starting to learn Flash is right when I got sick and had to drop out. That kind of sucked. Yesterday, therefore, was spent mostly learning the basics of the program, or at least the interface and how to draw with it. I haven’t gotten to animation yet. What got me started on it was an idea to do a cool animated ad for the comic. But Flash is a good thing to know how to use, as it has become something of a standard. I’ll post the ad when it’s done, assuming it doesn’t totally stink. It’s funny but I’ve never been a big fan of Flash sites in general, unless they’re really well done. But it can do some pretty cool things. I’ve seen television cartoons animated in Flash, so it’s undeniably a powerful piece of software. Of course, visions of The Far Reaches animation went through my head. Not going to happen, but I can dream
