Well, after a long absence I finally finished this page. A friend of mine had said that Gilrec should have some kind of cool weapon. But I wasn’t sure about actually giving him a gun or anything. At least not in this version of TFR. So I thought what better than to give a little shout out to one of my favorite scifi shows and give him a multi-tool that looks like it could be sonic. This will actually become more important later when we learn more of the Green Chicken (remember the Dark Lord of the Sheep said the Green Chicken had Gilrec’s scent.)
Sorry this one isn’t in color. I barely finished this page as it was and didn’t have the energy to color it. I’m still going to be looking into how I can do the comic in color and more simply. We’ll have to see about that.

Nice . . . glad to see you’re able to move on again with TFR. Your’s was one of first webcomics I started following. Never posted before, but was just glad to see a new page. Like the choice for Gilrec’s new toy. Keep ‘em coming.
Thanks! Glad to hear from you too
Does that mean that giant metal cans with two antenna and one big central eye will make an appearance going “Gilrec! Exterminate! Exterminate!”
lol probably not. But hey, if everyone and their brother can run around with blasters and comlinks and stuff, why not parody a sonic screwdriver? Besides I just couldn’t see gilrec going around with an actual gun
Just a quick note on the poll. Overall, I like the story and characters quite well. Your sense of humor really clicks for me and I love your artwork. The only real issue I have is that I would like to see Gilrec start becoming more proactive and take charge of his life, instead of just letting things happen to him. I do see hints of that as the story progresses, but I would like for the process to accelerate. It would be good if you could try to commit to updating at least once a week. Perhaps when you’re feeling well you could work ahead and then be able to update weekly even when you’re not.
Thanks for the comment
I agree with you that Gilly needs to be proactive. He needs to be a hero after all and the whole story needs to get a bit more epic, I feel. I’ll try to do some writing when i feel better. But I don’t know if i can do it in color. It’s just so much more time consuming unless I can find an easier way about it. But thanks again for the great input
Yay!!! TFR is back! Wow… Gilrec gets a laser version of the sonic… the horrors the universe will now know as he tries to figure out how to use it (or just the horrors he’ll know)! I love the Doctor Who references!
Me too. I’m a big fan of the Doctor.
Come up with a better name than “laser widget”. Everyone knows what a laser is, and they don’t do that kind of thing. Widget is also a bad choice: I got up this morning and made coffee in my coffee widget, put a roll in the cooking widget, and am finaly typing this on my conected-to-the-internet typing widget. People only use the word widget when they don’t know the right word to use. Show some creativity and brainstorm a new word. Throw halves of 2 words together. Or 3 words like do(or)-com(unications)-(gr)av for docomav. Although that is just one out of millions, and not one I particularly like.
Or explain it like 3 levels of the same effect: low strength short range grav pulses for comunications, medium strength grav pulse for door knocking, and high strength requires recharge grav pulse for defense. The nice thing about linking the effects is it hides your grab bag and leads naturaly to a name like personal variable gravity driver, or the pvg.
You are so right about the name! I’ve always hated the name laser widget. It’s beyond lame but I couldn’t think what to call it. I’ll keep your ideas in mind and try and come up with something better. What about Multiplexer since it’s essentially a multiplex tool like the sonic screwdriver. Still not fond of it. I’ll work on it though.
Yay! I can finally get to pages other than this, AND comment again!
Yeah! Sorry about that. I had a problem with the hosting’s billing system and they shut it down. Then when they restored it there was a little glitch that made it so the pages didn’t work. I’ll say this for Host Gator, they fixed the problem within 20 minutes of my asking for help. Good service.
