The Far Reaches Webcomic

[Updated Again]  The original backgrounds on this one weren’t good enough to make it a portfolio piece. So I went back and made better ones. I used Google Sketchup to model the basis for them and then drew my backgrounds on vellum over the top. I think they came out much better and I’m going to be making much more use of Sketchup in the future. It really is easy to use and fast.

Sorry this isn’t colored yet. That last panel really put me behind. It came out rather simple in the end, but originally I had tried a much more interesting shot. The perspective really gave me a hard time. It’s such a pain. I did have some big ships in the background, but couldn’t get the perspective quite right, so I just cut them out. Besides, the balloons cover that part of panel up anyway. I’ll put a star port sign above the hanger doors so it’s clear that’s where they’re going.

This is the last revision page I wanted to do. By cutting out chapter one, we miss this little bit between Gilrec and Bentley. It’s a good intro into Bentley’s character and is kind of important, so I had to put it in right after Gil leaves Binder at the club.  Once I finish coloring this page, I’ll need to do a new cover poster. I’d like to finish all this up this week if possible.
