Did anyone see this coming with Uncle Kilgore? It’s kind of interesting timing that this scene ended up being posted right after election. It was planned a long time ago so it’s an interesting coincidence. For those just joining us, Gilrec’s Uncle Kilgore has always had a loathing of politicians and senators, such as here. Even in chapter one here.
I’m really happy with the art on this page. I love the look of the robots, an upgraded version of Alfonse who appeared earlier. Of course Kilgore has a ton of robot minions. I also love Wellington’s entrance, the way he’s hovering on that pod with that look of his.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the page.

Ooops Got my name wrongggggggg Heeeeeeeeeee.

Great Nifty Comic keep up the swell work.
See, I wonder if he should be happy or just scared out of his wits? Will be interesting to see how she reacts..
I officially dub this the best strip ever. I always found Kilgore’s semi-irrational hatred of those blasted politicians hilarious.
And yay for Obama. Wonder what will happen…
Thanks! Yeah, he’s not in the best of moods. Politicians always get to him like a butterfinger candy bar that you just can’t get out of your teeth.
XD Oh man, the irony is AWESOME! Gilrik’s going to be saved from his evil, vindictive fiancee by his equally hateful uncle! XD The poor boy has way too many powerful forces fighting over him, but at least with this one, he only has to visit on weekends.
And DUDE. That top panel is AMAZING! =D The robots in and of themselves would be supremely cool, but the extra touch of evil of having that…thing, floating between them, plus the red lighting, makes that whole picture pure gold. And the extra note of ‘Cue the apocalyptic orchestra and ominous choir’ was perfect.
Keep up the awesome work, Outlandish! =D
P.S. Vindictive is a fun word.
Is IS a fun word.
Thanks for the comments. I really am proud of how the top panel came out. It’s so moody and cool. I’m really happy with how the robots came out, and Wellington (the uncle’s pet…thing). This is one of my favorite pages, I think.
I added the bit about the choir because that’s just how I imagined it. I was listening to a playlist with all the ominous orchestra and choir music I had to get me in the right mood. (Especially from Fellowship of the Ring, the theme for the Dark Riders. It’s so over the top for this but that’s how I imagined it.
)
Well, Kilgore is all about over the top. I mean, he builds somewhat useless spikes on his robots just for the evil of it.
And since you asked, I had no idea this was coming.
I thought those pirates or the ninjas after him were going to show up, but this is much, much better. Great job!
Btw, I’m still waiting for the day Gilrec becomes indeed Dautless.
I read the comic… and was psyched out of my mind, I said (audibly) I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! and right after I finished that sentence, I read the beginning sentence of your blog “Did anyone see this coming with Uncle Kilgore?” So funny….
Btw, EXCELLENT absolutely FANTASTIC job with the artwork in this scene, I especially love the detail on the bots in the top frame, and Uncle Kilgores eyes in the last frame.
For apocalyptic orchestra and ominous choir music might I suggest Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor (BWV 565).
It’s a classic.
You can get a very nice mp3 recording by Frederik Magle here (http://www.magle.dk/music-forums/23-bach-toccata-fugue-d.html)
No, not a chance had i seen this coming with Uncle Kilgore. (oh hey, kill/gore, finally notice
)
Epic. That’s what i can say of the first panel
So poltician is a no, so what’s left for gilrec to do?
Wow, I’m glad everyone likes the page so much. Thanks for the link Drgnkght, Back is indeed a classic. Good stuff. But now I must work my tail off to get the next page done.
Oh, and hopefully Gilrec with soon have to try to live up to his name. (But how and why?
)
Oh, wow.
As we say, caught between a rock and a hard place. Poor Gilrec – people just shouldn’t have that many enemies in high places without some effort on their own part.
Well, at least they’re enemies of each-other as well.
Since I haven’t mentioned yet, I love the font.
It’s a great font, reserved for Kilgore and the Dark Lords of the Sheep.
I *love* Wellington. He is the epitome of the annoying lap dog taken to the next level = evil lap dog of doom. His expression makes me laugh every time I see it.
I saw this coming!
or at least kilgore breaking off the relationship. of course, with the last page i was expecting the pirates or ninjas to be the ones causing he explosion.
