Yeah, I should have done a little more work on that background. Or maybe get rid of some of those lines. Maybe I'll fix it for the book.

Based on what i see, it looks fine except for those three lines going down and to the left in the second panel, but the art on the faces draws your attention away from it so its not really a problem. nice job.

Good comment and you're absolutely right. It just so happens that I used a lead holder (and a good quality sharpener) for penciling those two pages and it made a big difference. It's able to make much finer lines and more detail than even a .5 mechanical pencil that I was using before. I do recommend a good rotary sharpener as opposed to the little kind that may come with it.

Also thanks to you both for the kudos.

I don't know whether this would be helpful or not, but some artists use leadholders to 'ink' their drawings. They're basically mechanical pencils, but the lead is so fat that you can sharpen the actual lead. End result: a super sharp pencil that can draw smaller lines than pens. Staedtler sells nice ones. One last thing, I am told that it is best to get one with a separate lead sharpener (they all come with one built in)- they sell packs of leadholder, lead, eraser, and sharpener.

I second TheDeepDark! :D

And we go from Lord of the Rings to Star Trek. Woohoo! I gotta say, this comics ability to spoof just about Everything I know and love earns you a big Kudos(TM) in my book.

Thanks, and you're right about that second panel. I sort of just painted a impressionistic blah there rather than something that looked good. I just cheated it, and it shows. :???: On the bright side, I'm so glad everyone likes the new techniques. That's really great as this technique also will allow me to get more done.

It's looking really good but there is something about the background of the second panel that doesn't look right to me. The screens in the background look fine, I think it's the walls. I'm really liking the new color technique, your artistic ability is really showing now instead of the cool effects.
