[Comic 220] Level Up to Freedom!

No GravatarYou may note if you’ve been reading a while that girls are not what I draw best. Brin always looks different and so does Vellara. I’ve never been good at making them really pretty. But I was getting back into playing with Daz Studio (which I like WAY better than Poser), and the Victoria 4 model. She’s probably the awesomest female 3d model for sale and you can morph her to look like anything from aliens to a guy. I don’t know if I mentioned it but after Baltimore Con I caught the official Baltimore Con Cold of mega doom and desolation. I’m still feeling the effects of it. But for a week when I was really sick and like didn’t feel up to going anyway I got totally obsessed with 3d again. And I was looking at renders and screen captures of the 3d characters from the Final Fantasy games, which of course are amazingly cool to look at. So I decided to try and make Victoria 4 look like a Final Fantasy girl character. What I ended up with was a really great original face, although not exactly like FF.

Anyway, the last few times doing Vellara I used this 3d character as reference. She came out looking a little less cartoony than I normally go for, but I kind of wanted that for Vellara. And her pose is still a bit stiff. But even so I’m pretty happy with how she looks. At least she’s consistent.

“…And if all goes wrong, just reset and start over!”

Interesting variation on Mad’s philosophy.

Bwah-ha-ha-ha! This is Awesome – I will say I always thought Brin was cuter anyway, but maybe that’s cuz I like the hero-type.
