[Comic 175] “Accident”

This is the first time I’ve brought out the mysterious artifact in a very long time (because there always has to be at least one and even the look is a bit of a gag <grin>.) We’ve heard it mentioned lately but here it is. I like this page too because it really brings out a Wodehouse kind of thing in Bentley, his high bound attitude toward clothing. The master has to look appropriate for a gentleman. I always loved how Jeeves would kind of subtly get his way or get back at Bertie Wooster when Bertie would wear something a little too loud, or outlandish like having his initials on his handkerchiefs. Since Jeeves and Wooster was one of my initial inspirations, and has raised my spirits many times, this is a little homage to that.

BTW, we’ll be getting a little glimpse about Bentley and his past. I’ve shown his Jeevesness for fun, but soon we’ll see what makes him Bentley. It’s hard to say exactly when because I’m not sure just how long the climax of the Brin/Pix chase will be. At two pages a week, it’ll take a few weeks. Speaking of Brin and Pix, we’ll be getting back to them next page. It’ll be fun to see just how it turns out. It’s in my head, but it always transforms as it hits paper.

Thanks! I’m glad you liked it. I got the idea of link backs from Dave Kellett from http://www.sheldoncomics.com and it really does help as in your case. I mean the story is rather big and it’s hard to remember what people are talking about. I have to go back and remind myself too.

Maybe it is my education speaking,but why do I get the nagging intuition that Bentley has an agenda of his own with Gilrec and that artefact?

You are right the Gilrec and Bentley interaction is one of the best partof this comic.
